Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are common, and many people experience them at some point in their lives. The good news is that most STDs can be easily treated once diagnosed. The key is recognizing the early signs and getting tested right away.
Early STD Symptoms to Watch For
Many STDs have mild or even no symptoms at first, which is why regular testing is important. However, some early signs can include:
- Pain or burning when urinating
- Unusual discharge (from the vagina or penis)
- Itching, irritation, or sores in the genital area
- Pelvic or lower abdominal pain
- Bleeding between periods (for women)
These symptoms can overlap with other infections, so testing is the only way to know for sure. Even if your symptoms seem to go away, an untreated STD can still affect your health and your partner’s.
Free STD Testing and Treatment in Mentor
Ivy Women’s Center opened our STD Clinic in October 2025, expanding our services to better support the health and well-being of young women and men in our local Northeast Ohio community.
We offer free testing for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea, two of the most common and treatable STDs.
Testing Hours:
- 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- By appointment if another time is needed
If your test comes back positive, free treatment will be available by appointment.
Who Can Be Seen:
- Females ages 15 and up
- Males ages 15–19
Our licensed medical team will guide you through the process with care, privacy, and respect.
How to Schedule:
Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome during testing hours.
